Phil Cain continues to believe media technologies can deliver more positive outcomes for society, despite evidence to the contrary. To that end he has edited and published Alcohol Review since 2016. The multi-platform title provides a vital forum for trustworthy news, analysis, comment, investigation, discussion and fact-checking in a subject area where deception and spin are commonplace. It relentlessly pursues themes missed by other titles, unearthing several important scoops over the years. The many facets involved draw on experience picked up in a career which began in the late 90s as a mathematics graduate covering the global media and advertising business, internet bubble 1.0, e-government, e-democracy, e-health, the Balkans and sustainable finance. His work has featured in media including the BBC, Economist, FT, WSJ and CBS.

Andrea (Andy) Mohan, PhD, brought an academic perspective to Alcohol Review 2025. She is a lecturer in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Dundee. She is the co-lead of the Substance Use Research Group (SURG) in Health Sciences. Her research interests include alcohol and drugs, from population-level interventions such as alcohol licensing and drink-driving, to an individual focus on harm reduction and recovery. Andy’s expertise lies within public health, health promotion, public engagement and advancing race equality. She is President of  International Confederation of ATOD Research Associations (ICARA), having been its Vice-President from 2021-2023.
